Galatea Pestre

Galatée Pestre comes from the Metal Workshop of ENSAAMA - Olivier de Serres. Bitten by the techniques of metal, in 2006 she obtained her Diploma in Crafts.

In 2007 during her Erasmus stay in Budapest, she learned about jewelry at the Moholy Nagy School of Art and Design. Back in Paris, she followed the contemporary jeweler training of AFEDAP, which challenged her preconceived ideas on jewelry, and allowed her to confirm her vocation as a jeweler. In 2010, she obtained the Art Trades Training Grant, and spent a year in the workshop of the jeweler Rachik Soussi. Selected for the Residence at the Ateliers de Paris in 2011, Galatée benefits from support for her independent creation project, and is expanding her jewelry collection.

Since then, the projects have multiplied: active within the GLA collective, and the association From One Jewel to the Other, she devotes a great deal of energy to the promotion of contemporary jewelry, in particular by organizing the Circuits Bijoux. In 2013, she devoted herself, along with two other jeweler artists, to curating the Précieux Passages exhibition at the Forney library.

Both designer and jeweler, Galatée reinvests the signs of everyday life to create delicate and interactive jewelry. In its refined collection, Galatée avoids superfluous decorations, keeping only the essential: precious signage that aims to provoke reactions, and create an exchange around the jewel.
