Catherine Chopinet

Catherine Chopinet is a painter, she lives and works in Paris. Graduated from the National School of Decorative Arts in Paris, she develops in her painting a personal universe, crossing a rigorous observation of nature and the emotions that cross it. Very marked by her childhood in Lozère, she never stopped exploring her inner landscapes. Her work by series is similar to a quest for herself, in a joy of color and matter always renewed. Her latest research is based on everyday images: glossy and impersonal pages of magazines. She dresses them, inhabits them, transposes them, warms them, gives them life and harmony. She re-enchants them. Chance plays a role, too: it allows a glimpse of this or that part of the initial image, like a soul, hidden but glimpsed: a piece of text, of a body, a face, sometimes just a tint of color, more brilliant and which contrasts with the matte material of the paint. And a poetry emerges, embodied and sensitive.
